Jammu, March 21: Arun Gupta, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), has extended sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for extending the Amnesty Scheme for domestic power consumers under the Power Development Department. He described it as a much-needed relief that will enable domestic consumers to clear their outstanding dues.
Gupta, however, emphasised that CCI has repeatedly urged the government to announce a similar amnesty scheme for commercial consumers, which remains pending. He appealed for its immediate implementation to support businesses struggling with power dues.
He also highlighted long-standing concerns regarding the expiry of lease deeds for properties under the Jammu Development Authority, Housing Board, and Horticulture Department. Despite multiple discussions with the government, a decision is yet to be made. Gupta urged the government to form a special committee to establish a clear policy for resolving lease deed issues at the earliest.
