Srinagar, Mar 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday stated that Girls High School Pattan and High School Singhpora Pattan do not meet the standard feasibility criteria for up-gradation to their next higher level.
In response to a query from MLA Javid Riyaz, the Minister Incharge of School Education clarified that the transition from a High School to a Higher Secondary School requires adherence to specific criteria, including a minimum distance of 7 kilometers and an enrollment of at least 35 students in the highest grade.
The minister further explained that Girls High School Pattan has 58 students enrolled in the 10th grade and is located just 0.5 kilometers from HSS Pattan, thus failing to meet the distance requirement for up-gradation.
However, the high School Singhpora Pattan has 53 students in the 10th grade and is situated 3.5 kilometers from HSS Gund Khawaja Qasim, which also does not comply with the criteria for advancement, ” the Minister said.
