Ganderbal, Feb 26: Residents of Ganderbal district in Central Kashmir have raised concerns over frequent unscheduled power cuts during the ongoing winter season, causing inconvenience to the populace, particularly during morning and evening hours.
Citizens from areas like Wusan, Anderwan, Yarmuqam, Bonizil, Haripora, Ganiwan, Gund, Cherwan, Bonibagh Kullan, Mamer, Hayan, Surfraw, and Gagangir have voiced their grievances, highlighting the erratic power supply disrupting their daily lives.
Despite the presence of three major power projects and four new mini power projects in the district, residents question the reliability of the Power Development Department (PDD) in providing consistent electricity. They emphasize that despite prompt payment of bills, they face prolonged power curtailments without prior notice or a proper schedule.
The situation is particularly distressing for students preparing for upcoming board examinations, as the power cuts hinder their study routines. Expressing frustration, locals stress the need for the PDD to prioritize power cuts during daytime hours to mitigate the adverse impact on educational activities.
In response to the mounting complaints, residents have appealed to PDD authorities to address the issue promptly and ensure a more reliable and predictable power supply to alleviate the hardships faced by the community, especially during the harsh winter months.
