Shopian, Feb 26: The 44 RR (RAJPUT) Battalion under the aegis of Chinar Corps Headquarters in Lassipora organized a medical camp at Imamsahib village of Shopian district, serving approximately 500 civilians, primarily women and children. The day-long event, provided free medical consultations, screenings, and treatments, addressing various health and veterinary needs within the community.
The camp went beyond immediate medical attention, aiming to raise awareness about prevalent health issues and promoting preventive healthcare practices among the villagers.
“The medical camp served a dual purpose,” said an army Commanding Officer of the 44 RR. “While we provided immediate medical attention to those in need, we also focused on educating the community about preventive healthcare measures. This empowers them to take charge of their well-being and build a healthier future.”
The initiative received overwhelming appreciation from the locals who attended the camp. “This medical camp was a huge help for our village, especially for those who cannot afford regular medical checkups,” said Ab Rahim, a resident of Imamsahib. “The army doctors were very kind and explained everything patiently. We are grateful to the army for organizing such a helpful event.”
A woman named Fatima said “My children received free checkups and medicines today. This is a great service, and we are thankful to the army for their support.”
“The medical camp is a testament to our commitment to serving the people of Imamsahib,” said another army official. “We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the community to address their needs and ensure their well-being.”
