Jammu, Jan 29: Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) organised a session on “Career Opportunities in the Armed Forces: A Pathway to Serve, Lead, and Grow” for final and pre-final year students, aiming to provide insights into career prospects in the Indian Armed Forces and guide students on the recruitment process.
The session featured Brigadier (Dr) Vijay Sagar Dheman, a retired Army veteran and former Additional Director General, NCC, as the keynote speaker. He was accompanied by Anpurna Pandit (CEO, Achievable Blooming Careers Institute), Vishal Dogra (Marketing & Social Media Manager), and Aneesh Verma (Marketing Executive).
Brigadier Dheman spoke about the role of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and emerging domains like cyberspace in national security. He explained the Chetwode Motto, which instils the values of duty, honour, and selfless service in military officers. He also highlighted the diverse career opportunities available in fields such as technology, engineering, medicine, logistics, and leadership.
The session provided students with detailed information on the eligibility criteria, application process, and recruitment deadlines, urging them to apply before February 5. He also spoke about the benefits of a military career, including job security, economic stability, professional growth, adventure, and social prestige.
The event was attended by Prof Dr Mukesh Kumar Rana (Director, YCET), Er B R Verma (Chief Coordinator, YCET), Er Dinesh Gupta (Dean Academics), heads of departments, and faculty members. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Er Rajnish Magotra, leaving students inspired and better informed about opportunities in the Armed Forces.
