Srinagar, Jan 23: Days after the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Recruitment Board (JKSSRB) declared the results for the J&K Constable recruitment; concerns have been raised by aspirants and their families over alleged discrepancies in the selection process. In response, the board has ordered an inquiry to investigate the allegations and ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
Chairperson JKSSRB, Indu Kanwal Chib, stated that a probe has been initiated and a specific timeframe has been set for completing the investigation. “We have taken the concerns seriously and are committed to address any discrepancies. Based on the findings, appropriate action will be taken,” she said.
The controversy erupted after several aspirants and their parents questioned the fairness of the results, alleging that some candidates who had underperformed in the JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) paper were still listed among the top scorers in telecommunications and photography exams. “We were shocked to see the results. Some candidates who scored poorly are among the toppers. This raises serious doubts about the fairness of the recruitment,” said one aspirant, requesting anonymity.
Another candidate expressed anger, saying, “We worked hard for this opportunity, but the way results have been declared makes us lose faith in the system. We hope the inquiry brings justice to deserving candidates.”
The issue has also gained political traction, with PDP leader Iltija Mufti accusing the JKSSRB of jeopardizing the future of J&K youth. She stated that such controversies further alienate the youth and called for transparency in the recruitment process.
Reacting to Mufti’s remarks, National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar criticized the PDP, accusing it of politicizing the issue. He claimed the party should address concerns through official channels rather than making “half-baked statements” in the media. “PDP should focus on facts rather than stoking unnecessary controversies. It would have been better if the matter was raised with the Lieutenant Governor,” Nabi added.
