SMVDU students participate in building material expo at Jammu

Jammu, Jan 09: The students of B.Arch., School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SoALD) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University participated in the 11th Building Material Exposition organized by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Jammu & Kashmir Chapter at Jammu.
The students had exhibited their academic curricular work under the supervision of Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Head, SoALD and Ar. Aditya Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, SoALD and both Executive Members, IIA J&K Chapter, which was consisting of Architectural Designs amp; models of various building typologies such as Residence, Cultural Centre, Hospital, Shopping Complex etc.
The students had received the huge applaud and appreciation from the visitors, especially the Architects and construction fraternity. The students of architecture, the aspiring Architects have gained the exposure to the Construction Industry especially to the various state of art building materials, fixtures and furnishings that are indispensable for the execution and finishing of the designed buildings.
The faculty members of SoALD who are also associates and fellow members of IIA, namely, Ar. Abhimanyu Sharma and Ar. Navin Gupta respectively had cooperated in curating the initiative with IIA, J&K Chapter. The Best UG thesis Award was also felicitated by the IIA, J&K Chapter to Debjyoti Mukhopadhyay under the supervision of Ar. Abhiney Gupta in order to boost the academic rigor and industry interface. The collaborative efforts of the SoALD with Professional bodies such as IIA have brought the school to achieve 16th NIRF 2022 rank.
The career in the profession of Architecture not only serve the society with sustainable habitable spaces but also enhances the entrepreneurial livelihood. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the SMVD University congratulated the school for this initiative of exposure of the students to the professional industry. The student participation was facilitated by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
