Srinagar, Dec 08: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has called on the Jammu and Kashmir government to grant age relaxation for candidates seeking police sub-inspector positions, citing delays in the recruitment process that have persisted since 2019.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Mufti described the demand for age relaxation as “legitimate,” stressing that many aspirants for the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector (JKPSI) posts now face uncertain futures due to prolonged delays caused by corruption and the cancellation of exams.
“Countless JKPSI aspirants stare at a bleak future owing to recruitment delays since 2019 due to corruption & exam cancellations. Age relaxation is a legitimate demand, and I hope it’s granted immediately,” Mufti wrote, while tagging Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in her message.
The controversy surrounding the recruitment process began with a written examination for police sub-inspector positions in 2022. However, the list of selected candidates was later annulled following allegations of irregularities in the exam process. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a probe into the matter, and 24 individuals, including a BSF officer, have since been charged in connection with the case.
