Srinagar, Nov 07: The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday alleged that four of its legislators were injured during the scuffle in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which erupted over demands for the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A.
Senior BJP legislator and MLA from Bahu, Vikram Randhawa, told Rising Kashmir that six BJP legislators were marshalled out of the Assembly after opposing the resolution seeking the restoration of Article 370.
“Four of our legislators were injured including Mohan Lal, the legislator from Akhnoor and RS Pathania MLA Udhampur West. He said one among them was rushed to the Bones and Joints Hospital for treatment of a “fracture in the fingers of his right hand,” he said.
Randhawa further said BJP will continue to protest and will raise their voice against the illogical move until it is not revoked back.
Meanwhile, MLA Akhnoor Mohan Lola accused the Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather of biased behaviour in the assembly.
“We wanted to voice our opposition to the special status resolution, but the marshals, under the Speaker’s orders, manhandled us, leading to our injuries,” he told Rising Kashmir outside the assembly complex.
Lal said BJP legislators were trying to put our point against the move of special status by NC. J&K is an integral part of India and they were allowed to speak against the country and the August 5, 2019 decisions, he said.
“I am feeling stable now and I am not discouraged. Will continue to perform my duties. I am ready to sacrifice my life for my country. Will not allow any forces to raise the anti-national voices,” he said.
Lal further said they are the elected representatives and wanted to raise the voice of people of J&K. Unfortunate speaker was acting on the directions of NC and was manhandled by the marshals, he said.
Earlier, Speaker of the Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, ordered the marshalling of BJP legislators following a scuffle between the opposition BJP and other opposition legislators, including members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Conference (PC), and Independent MLA Sheikh Khursheed, over the resolution demanding the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A.
The five-day session of the new Union Territory assembly, which began on November 4, is scheduled to conclude on November 8.
