Srinagar, Nov 06: Senior National Conference (NC) leader, Chowdhury Mohammad Ramzan on Wednesday hailed the resolution passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly calling for the restoration of the region’s special status as a “historic expression” of the people’s will.
In a statement, Ramzan congratulated NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for spearheading the resolution, calling it a powerful reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Today’s resolution powerfully reinforces our unwavering commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, declaring that our identity and dignity are non-negotiable,” Ramzan said. “National Conference (NC) has always been the ‘unwavering voice of the people’ and will continue to relentlessly champion their rights and protect their dignity.”
In a direct response to recent criticisms from some political factions accusing the NC of backtracking on its promises, Ramzan made it clear that the resolution passed in the Assembly was a strong rebuttal to those claims. “Today, with the passing of this resolution, this stands as a clear response to them, proving that the National Conference is steadfast in its commitments and will not turn back on its word,” he said.
The NC leader reminded the Government of India of the “clear mandate” expressed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the recent elections.
