Deadline for nomination filing ends; scrutiny scheduled for Sept 13
JAMMU, Sept 12:A total of 483 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024, covering 40 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) across seven districts. The deadline for filing nominations was today, September 12, 2024.
According to a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer, 518 nomination papers were received for this phase. The scrutiny of these papers will take place on September 13, and candidates will have until September 17 to withdraw their nominations.
In Jammu district, 122 candidates have submitted papers, while Baramulla district leads with 111 candidates. Kupwara follows with 80 candidates, Bandipora with 50, Kathua with 47, Udhampur with 40, and Samba with 33.
The notification for this phase was issued on September 5, 2024. The polling day is scheduled for October 1, 2024, with voting hours from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The election process continues as the candidates prepare for the scrutiny and potential withdrawal period, leading up to the final election day.
