Anantnag, Sept 09: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chief spokesperson, Salman Nizami on Monday said the party chairman, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who had been unwell, has now recovered and is set to begin his election campaign on September 12. The campaign will include a series of public meetings in key constituencies such as Devsar, Anantnag, Dooru, Qazigund and Doda.
“Our agenda is only development and peace,” Nizami said while addressing the public in Bul Bul Nowgam. He said DPAP is committed to bringing positive change and addressing the concerns of the people in these regions. Under Azad’s leadership, the party aims to promote inclusiveness and development, he added.
Attending a roadshow for DPAP candidate Mir Altaf, the spokesperson urged the public to support the young leader. “The party’s focus remains on development, continuing the legacy of Azad’s tenure as Chief Minister and Union Minister. Our manifesto is built on the achievements of Ghulam Nabi Azad during his two and a half years as Chief Minister,” he said.
Salman accused other parties of offering false promises, claiming they exploited people and compromised their mandate. He pointed to Azad’s developmental work in Anantnag, including establishing a medical college, new districts, schools, and roads. “The DPAP is committed to continuing this development drive,” he said.
Nizami also questioned the NC-Congress alliance, saying that while Rahul Gandhi recently visited Dooru, he remained silent on Article 370. He called the alliance a “paper arrangement” and highlighted internal conflicts between the two parties. “Where the NC has fielded candidates, Congress is trying to defeat them, and vice versa,” he said, adding that the alliance’s infighting is confusing the public.
Nizami said Ghulam Nabi Azad represents a “genuine alternative for progress and stability”.
