Assembly election preparations: ECI to meet all J&K UT DEOs on July 10

JAMMU, July 05:The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold a meeting via video conferencing with all the District Election Officers (DEOs) of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir on July 10 regarding the upcoming Assembly elections.
“The purpose of the meeting through video conferencing by the ECI is mainly to discuss holding Assembly elections in J&K, review preparedness, and determine steps to be taken for the smooth conduct of elections,” sources said.
Deputy Commissioner (DC),Reasi, VisheshMahajan, confirmed that the ECI meeting is focused on the assembly elections.
The video conferencing meeting will address key election preparations, including issues raised by district-level political parties, updates on Electoral Registration Officers, Booth Level Officers’ deployment, and house-to-house verifications. It will also cover the overall preparation of each district in J&K for the smooth conduct of Assembly elections.
Key election preparations such as improving the electoral roll, Electors Photo Identity Cards, and preparing an integrated draft roll will be reviewed. District Election Officers have been directed to submit status reports by July 9, 2024.
