War against terrorism can’t be won without help of JKP: DGP

JAMMU, Jun 28: Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain underscored the indispensable role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in combating terrorism, stating that victory in this struggle depends heavily on their support.
Addressing reporters at an event in Hira Nagar, Swain lauded the JKP as “the sword of ‘Awam’,” emphasizing their frontline position and sacrifices in the ongoing battle against terrorism.
Special Police Officers (SPOs) to the rank of constables were regularized in recognition of their contributions in eliminating two terrorists in the Hiranagar border belt of Kathua district.
“The JKP has been at the forefront and suffering losses,” the DGP said adding that now, the central government has realized the contribution of JKP.
“The war against terrorism cannot be won without JKP,” the DGP said and added, “be it Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua or any other area, the JKP has always bore the brunt”.
The DGP Swain said that elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for Amarnathyatra. The langars, lodgmentscenters, National Highway, camp security, have all been put in place for ensuring safe Amarnathyatra.
