Srinagar, June 25: Dr Shariq Rashid Masoodi, Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at SKIMS, has been named Dean of Medical Faculty at SKIMS.
Renowned as Jammu and Kashmir’s leading endocrinologist, Dr Masoodi has significantly contributed to SKIMS’ development at various levels.
Dr Masoodi earned his MBBS in December 1987 from Government Medical College Srinagar, under the University of Kashmir. He then completed his MD in Medicine in April 1993 at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, affiliated with SKIMS Deemed University.
Pursuing further specialisation, Dr Masoodi received a DM in Endocrinology in December 2003 from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh.
Additionally, he obtained a Fellowship in Personalised and Genomic Diabetes Medicine in August 2014 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, demonstrating his commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements.
Currently, Dr Masoodi is a key figure in Endocrinology. Apart from leading the Department of Endocrinology, he oversees Paediatric Endocrinology services at SKIMS, specialising in diabetes and endocrine disorders in children. Internationally, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition.
