Srinagar, June 20: On the eve of ‘World Refugee Day’, noted senior Supreme Court lawyer and a prominent Kashmiri leader, Ashok Bhan has said the ethnic cleansing of native Kashmiri population and killings of innocent Kashmiris by terrorists has rendered hundreds of thousands people living as refugees and rendered homeless.
Bhan made hese remarks while speaking at a joint meeting of human right activists, the Law students and Kashmiri Pandit refugees.
“It is the thirty fifth year of homeless living for this population that has brought colossal miseries, trauma and harsh living conditions to them besides disintegration syndrome to this unique population. The union government has failed in to plan a structured return and rehabilitation of refugee population back to home in Kashmir,” Bhan said.
He said there is a national consensus and Kashmiri societal overwhelming support for their Gharwapsi but unfortunately the government does not prioritise the festering issue.
Bhan urged government to plan the “Gharwapsi’ of native Kashmiri population back to their homeland. “There is a loud demand by Kashmiris that Kashmir is incomplete without the physical presence of Kashmiri Pandits.”
