70th All India Cooperative Week: Result-oriented efforts taken to revitalise Cooperative movement: DC Kulgam

KULGAM, NOV 19: The Department of Cooperatives, Kulgam on Sunday held a daylong mega awareness programme to celebrate the 70th All India Cooperative Week with the theme of “Role of Cooperative in $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs”. Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi ud din Bhat presided over the function.
Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies Kulgam in his welcome address highlighted the achievements of the Cooperative Societies in the district and emphasised the importance of PACs, which are on their way to operating Common Service Centres, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras and Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather, ADC Viqar Ahmad Giri also spoke on the celebration of Cooperative Week and highlighted the need to strengthen the cooperative movement on a democratic and sustainable basis.
The Deputy Commissioner while appreciating the potential of  Cooperatives to transform the lives of people highlighted the role of cooperatives in the socio-economic upliftment of people and emphasized the need for strengthening the sector.
The DC encouraged the Cooperative Department to keep working hard in collaboration with other stakeholder departments like agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts and others,  and pursue it in a way that we are able to create numerous employment opportunities.
A major focus over the past few years is being provided to revitalise the cooperative sector to harness its true potential, for accelerating socio-economic development of the people,  he said.
On the occasion, registration certificates, Jan Aushadhi Licenses and CSC registration certificates were also distributed among various Societies for the operation of their new economic initiatives.
Various members of the District Cooperative societies threw light on their success stories and how they have utilised the platform provided by Cooperatives to bring about socioeconomic upliftment of their members.
 
 
 
‘Cooperative institutions bridge rural-urban divide’ 
To celebrate the 70th All India Cooperative Week, a function was organised by the Department of Cooperatives District Ganderbal at Town Hall. The function was presided over by the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Maqdoomi, Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Block Lar, Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal, Branch Manager State Cooperative Bank Ganderbal. Members and stakeholders of the Cooperative Societies of the district participated in the said programme.
Mohammad Rafiq Baba, Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Block Lar in his welcome address highlighted the importance and significance of Cooperative Week Celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Registrar highlighted the pioneering role played by the cooperative institutions in strengthening the national economy by bridging the rural-urban divide and creating opportunities for income generations besides illuminating the gathering with various schemes and programmes extended through the department also stressed upon the need for diversification of business activities.
On the occasion, highlighting the achievements and success stories, the speakers from the Department of Cooperatives and Baba Mian Nizam Ud Din Cooperative Educational Institution elaborated on the contribution to serving the community through the Cooperative Sector.
In his address, Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal praised the role played by the Cooperatives in serving the general masses. He stressed the need to organise awareness camps at various levels so that the essence of doing business on a cooperative-based economic model is disseminated far and wide. He complimented Cooperative Department Ganderbal for organising an impressive and fruitful programme.
At the end of the programme, in recognition of their outstanding contribution in their respective fields, cooperatives were awarded certificates of appreciation/excellence and registration certificates were distributed among 3 newly registered Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies and 1 Dairy Cooperative Society by the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Ganderbal, Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Block Lar, Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal, Branch manager State Cooperative Bank Ganderbal.
