Budgam, Oct 20: 11th Capacity Building programme for Sozni Embroidery Artisans of District Budgam was held at Meeting Hall of Municipality at Beerwah Budgam on Thursday.The program was organised by the PHDCCI-Kashmir in association with Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir and with the support of Department of Commerce-Ministry of Commerce & Industry Government of India.
The programme was attended by more than 50- Artisans of Sozni Hand Embroidery including National and State Awardees from various areas and craft clusters of Budgam District. The resource persons and faculty who attended the programme was Dr Muhammad Ashraf Parray Assistant professor Department of Management Studies IUST University along with Master Trainers from School of Designs Handicrafts and Handloom Department Mr Showket Ahamd and his team. The other trainers who interacted with artisans include Mr Iqbal Fayaz Jan Deputy Director PHDCCI-J&K, Smt Khalida Rifat, Handicrafts Training officer (HTO) Beerwah, Mr Tasaduq Hussain, Assistant Handicrafts Training officer (AHTO), Mr. Syed Bilal Bukhari, Junior Craft instructor (JCI) Sozni, Mr Mohd Ashraf (SCI) Kani Shawl
The artisans were made acquainted with the latest trends to put their creativity to productive use as per the market demands and also a detailed presentation on latest Designs and fashion in Sozni Art were discussed in detail. The artisans were also made aware about latest e-Commerce platforms and digital/ e-marketing, importance of packaging and quality improvement. The artisans were also made aware about the latest schemes and direct marketing avenues for the Handicraft sector.
The artisans of Sozni were asked to visit the school of designs wherein they will be provided a New Design Pattern of Sozni Art free of cost. It was told to the artisans to often visit the school of Designs for latest designs and quality improvement of your products.
While applauding the role of the Handicraft Department and PHDCCI for arranging such a wonderful awareness workshop the Artisans of Sozni Embroidery of District Budgam said that they have gained and enriched a lot through the two-day program and will adopt the techniques learnt in the packaging, designing and e-Marketing of their products.
