Vigilance awareness week observed at IMGDC in Shopian
DC calls for making behavioural changes at individual levels to curb the menace

Shopian, Nov 02: An impressive function under Vigilance Awareness week was wednesday organised at Imtiyaz Memorial Government Degree College (IMGDC), Shopian.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, DC said that as part of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week which started from October 31 to November 06, today's function is aimed at sensitizing the people about varied aspects of corruption.
He further said that various strict structural, legal provisions have been taken by the govt to ensure transparency and accountability in the governing set up.
The DC called for making behavioural changes at individual levels to curb the menace. He urged all to work with dedication and honesty and highlighted the role of education in inculcating moral, ethical values so that newer generations can imbibe values of integrity.
Vaishya said that the students are the future of the nation and they should make themselves as well as others aware of all kinds of corrupt practices and ensure that no one should indulge in corruption, adding that corruption is prohibited in all religious teachings.
He advised students to take part in academic and extracurricular activities to build their mental and physical acumen in order to excel in life while being moral and said that administration has zero tolerance against corrupt practices.
Other speakers spoke on various issues connected with the issue of Vigilance Awareness and stressed upon the ill effects of corruption and emphasized for making the district corruption free.
The role of ACB was also highlighted on the occasion by the speakers.
Joint Director Planning, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana; Vice- Principal, IMGDC Shopian, Tariq Hussain Mir; Dy.SP, Anti Corruption South Kashmir, Mohammad Shafiq; Prosecuting Officer, Khursheed Ahmed were also present.
