My Youth My Pride: Sports activities continue, more organisations want to join MYMP initiative

Jammu, Sep 19:  The 23rd District Sqay Championship commenced in Ganderbalon Monday in which more than 150 participants comprising boys and girls are participating.
District Commissioner GanderbalShayambir Singh presided over the function as chief guest. While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the measures taken by J&K Sports Council to overhaul the sports structure in the union territory. “The administration is here to support our budding players”, he added.
Meanwhile, the 32nd District Poonch Table Tennis Championship which was declared open yesterday continued on day two. The event is being organised by the district unit under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council.
A chess championship organised under J&K Sports Council’s special initiative My Youth My Pride concluded in the Indoor Complex of M.A Stadium here.AnandSwaroop emerged as winner in 2-days open Blitz Chess Championship, while 2nd place went to Viraj Singh Jamwal and Anshyan Gupta secured 3rd place.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Divisional Sports Officer Jammu Ashok Singh Jamwal and S.P Singh, Senior coach at M.A Stadium Jammu. J&K Chess Association had coordinated with Sports Council for the event. Arvindu Sharma and AshutoshJamwal conducted all the Matches.
J&K Sports Council is organising sports events in various disciplines at MA stadium under its special sports initiative ‘My youth My Pride’.
In the meantime, a football tournament for teenage footballers also commenced in Jammu today. The U-17 Jammu Gold Cup Football tournament is being played in G.G.M. Science College Football Ground the event is organised by Young Hero Club in association with J&K Sports Council.
A number of delegations and NGO’s approached J&K Sports Council office for tying up with the My Youth My Pride programme so as to enable the reach of the event to every nook and corner of J&K. The proposals are under active consideration and action shall follow soon, said ShiekhRiyaz Ahmad, Administrative Officer J&K Sports Council.
The couple of night cricket matches, both in Jammu and Kashmir divisions, were about to commence. In Jammu the historic MA Stadium was hosting the event while as in Kashmir division Ganderbal’sKamaria Stadium was lit by flood lights when reports last came in. Teams in both the venues were warming up for the match.
