Budgam, Apr 19: The Municipal Committee Beerwah is going to start a solid waste management site where all the waste will be segregated through a machine.
The plastic waste will be recycled and the kitchen-generated waste will be decomposed into fertilizers.
An official from the MC Beerwah told Rising Kashmir that they are going to start the first solid waste management site where a material recovery facility (MRF) and composite pits will be used to segregate all the waste that is generated on a daily basis in the town.
"The solid waste management site in the MC Beerwah is fully based on the two units, which include a material recovery facility and composite pits. “Various kinds of machines will be used to recycle the plastic waste, and the kitchen waste will be decomposed into fertilizers," he said.
The official said that the revenue generated at this solid management site will be used for development-related works in the main town Beerwah in the near future.
"In this solid waste management site, the machines include a shredder, a bailing machine, a sieving trommel, a feeding hopper and a segregator with eight dustbins, a water sprayer, a sanitary disposal machine with a smoke control unit, a diesel generator, and a weighing bridge," he said.
The plastic waste that will be recycled in the waste management site will be sent to the companies. The kitchen waste will also be decomposed into fertilizers that can be used on agricultural land, which people can also buy from the Municipal Committee Beerwah.
This was the first project in the main town Beerwah, where the director of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) provided a lot of support to complete this project. "Under his supervision, the municipal committee has also succeeded in completing this project before the given deadline," the official said.
