Kulgam, Apr 26: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Wednesday said that prompt redressal of public issues is the top priority of the administration and that no issue will get unheard. He also highlighted the initiatives and steps taken for the employability of youth through various employment generation schemes and urged youth to avail benefits of self-employment schemes.
The DC while visiting the Mohammad Pora area of the district presided over the mega grievance redressal camp under the weekly block diwas initiative. He apprised the youth present in the camp that the district administration will impart skill development training in various trades to three to five youths including women in every panchayat.
The programme witnessed an overwhelming response from PRIs and the general public and civil society who highlighted various developmental, and public welfare issues and grievances confronting their areas for early redressal.
SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal, ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather, ACR Imtiyaz Aziz, JDP Zahid Sajjad, ACD Mohammad Imran Khan, ASP, Shabir Ahmad, GM DIC, Bashir Ahmad, other district and sectoral officers from various departments remained available.
While appraising the DC about their issues and developmental requirements, the people demanded the establishment of a Forest Depo, ITI College, Horticulture and Agriculture zone in Mohammad Pora besides a passenger shed near bus adda, bus service to Srinagar and Anantnag from Mohammad Pora, development of playfield, flood protection bund at Nalla near Jamai Masjid, etc.
The officers from the concerned departments, who were also present in the camp, responded to the queries and issues raised by people. The DC addressed some of the immediate nature of grievances on the spot. The issues which required to be redressed at the higher level were noted and directions were passed to the concerned officers to take up others on a priority basis.
The DC instructed the concerned staff to start work on the passenger shed, and flood protection bund near Eidgah and also announced Rs 10 lakh for the establishment of a competitive examination library in the area. He instructed them to conduct a survey of springs and water bodies for their rejuvenation and restoration.
