Anantnag, June 08: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) is taking proactive measures to promote a sports culture among the youth and steer them away from drug abuse, ensuring their fitness for the nation’s future. A series of tournaments spanning from the zonal to district level are being organized at various venues in Anantnag district.
In Zone BhijBehra, the tournament for girls under the age group of 17 in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Volleyball continued, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of 156 students. Simultaneously, in Zone Bidder, a zonal-level Tenniquoit tournament was organized for boys under the age group of 14 and 17 at HS Sagam, with 35 participants showcasing their skills.
Zone Srigufwara hosted an InterSchool Zonal Level competition in Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho, attracting 600 students from the zone under the age group of 14 and 17 to the sports stadium Badroo. The event proved to be a platform for young athletes to display their talent and passion for sports.
Zone Verinag also played its part in promoting sports among girls under the age group of 14 and 17, organizing a zonal-level Kabaddi and Volleyball tournament at GDC Verinag. The event witnessed the spirited participation of 154 girls, further emphasizing the commitment to fostering a sports culture.
These tournaments not only provide an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills but also instill values of discipline, teamwork, and healthy competition.
