Kulgam, June 08: The Department of Youth Service and Sports (DYSS), Kulgam, organized a series of sports activities in the tribal area of Brinal Lammer, located in the southern district of Kashmir. The program, held at the Physical Education Zone Devsar, aimed to foster a sports culture among the residents of these tribal regions.
The week-long schedule featured various sports events, including Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tug of War, Yoga, and a Cultural program. These competitions brought the community together, providing an opportunity for participants to showcase their skills and engage in healthy competition.
Youth Service and Sports Officer Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, graced the concluding ceremony of the sports week as the chief guest. He expressed the significance of such events in bringing people together and promoting physical activities among the youth.
“This is the first time the Youth Service and Sports Department of Jammu and Kashmir has organized such competitions in these tribal areas,” stated an official.
Ashraf Khatana, one of the participants, emphasized the importance of sports in today’s world. He expressed his hope that similar events would be organized regularly in the region by the department.
“It is essential to revive the sports spirit among the younger generation to keep them engaged in positive activities and prevent them from falling into bad habits during their free time,” Khatana emphasized.
The initiative taken by the Department of Youth Service and Sports in Kulgam showcases their commitment to nurturing talent, fostering unity, and providing a platform for the development of physical abilities and sportsmanship among the residents of these tribal areas.
