Vajr Top expedition sets out to scale new heights in celebration of Independence Day
Srinagar, Aug 04: In a remarkable display of patriotism and adventure, the Vajr Division has commenced a thrilling mountaineering expedition to conquer the towering Vajra Top. The peak, standing proudly as the highest point within the Chinar Corps, soars at a breathtaking altitude of 18,044 feet.
A team of 15 determined climbers has embarked on this awe-inspiring journey, with the dual purpose of commemorating the Azadi ka Mahotsava and celebrating the upcoming 76th Independence Day of the nation. This expedition is a testament to the indomitable spirit of India’s freedom and the unwavering dedication of its defenders.
One of the most striking aspects of this expedition lies in its symbolic contribution to the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ initiative. The climbers are set to collect rocks and soil from the summit of Vajra Top, contributing a piece of their conquest to the very land they seek to honor. This gesture underscores the deep-rooted connection between the brave climbers and their motherland.
The enthusiasm and confidence radiating from the expedition team have been nothing short of infectious. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Vajr Division conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the climbers, urging them to preserve the flame of adventure and carry the nation’s flag to even loftier heights.
The grand flag-off ceremony took place against the backdrop of the vibrant two-day celebration, Jashn-e-Gurez. This event witnessed an unprecedented influx of tourists, who immersed themselves in various adventure sports like Para Motor, Kishanganga River Rafting, and Hot Air Ballooning.
The ceremony also served as a prelude to the imminent inauguration of the ‘Shinon Meeras – Shina Cultural Centre.’ This unique initiative, borne from collaboration between the Indian Army, civil administration, and J&K Tourism, aims to honor and uphold the distinctive culture, traditions, and identity of the Dard-Shina People. The anticipation for this upcoming inauguration was palpable among the attendees, adding to the air of excitement.
