Jammu, Jan 09: Asserting that women play a vital role in society, the Apni Party Senior Vice President, Jammu, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Tuesday underscored the need for the empowerment of women to upgrade them educationally, economically, politically and socially. This, he said, will uplift the living standard of the society and make society vibrant.
As per a press release, a meeting of women wing was organized by Provincial President Women Wing Jammu, Pavneet Kour here at Apni Party Office, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The meeting was also attended by Provincial President, Jammu, S. Manjit Singh and other leaders.
While chairing a meeting, Ghulam Hassan Mir reviewed the working of the women wing and suggested certain measures that need to be taken to gain more strength on the ground. He appreciated the women wing and its leadership for educating women about the policy and agenda of the party.
Mir said the Apni Party believes that women are not fully empowered. Therefore, the educational, economic, political, and social empowerment of women is a must to fully empower the women and upgrade the living standard of the society, he said, adding, “It becomes imperative to fully empower women in Jammu and Kashmir so that they can resolve their own issues.”
He added, “Women should come forward and join the Apni Party which has provided appropriate representation to the women folk. The involvement of women in politics is important to fight for their rights which have been guaranteed by the constitution of the country.”
Asserting that the Apni Party is committed to the empowerment of women, Ghulam Hassan said, “The party has committed to enhancing marriage assistance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for the girls belonging to poor families, enhancement of widow pension up to Rs 5,000, and supply of four cooking gas cylinders per year to each family under Ujjwala Scheme, belonging to the economically weaker section of society.”
He said the participation of women in economic activities will boost the economy as well as upgrade the living standard of society, especially the women and young girls.
Meanwhile, Provincial President, Jammu, S. Manjit Singh also spoke on the occasion and held detailed deliberation about the activities of women wing. He said women from different segments of society have joined the Apni Party after being impressed with the policy and agenda of equitable development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Similarly, Pavneet Kour, Provincial President, Women Wing, Jammu also explained the organizational working.
