Winter vacation for all schools in the Gurez Valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been extended till March 8, officials said on Friday.

The decision comes in wake of heavy snowfall, and prevailing weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir.

“Due to severe weather, movement of students and school staff has been disrupted. The decision to extend winter vacation has been taken for the wellbeing and safety of students and staff,” an official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer.

He said that heads of all institutions within the subdivision have been directed to ensure compliance with the extended winter vacation schedule—(KNO)
