Srinagar, May 22: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday said that he will come to power soon and will investigate fund use in elections by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“Mehbooba Mufti should explain where from 20 lakh rupees came to Mendhar amidst ongoing Lok Sabha elections in the constituency,” Bukhari asked.
“Mehbooba Mufti should explain her position on 20 lakh rupees where from it brought to J&K’s Mendhar. I will come to power soon, and will investigate the matter thoroughly where from such huge money was brought to Mendhar,” Bukhari told reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag.
He claimed that one former chief minister – referring to Omar Abdullah – has lost elections in the north Kashmir parliamentary segment, and appealed to people of the Anantnag-Rajouri segment to take another chief minister (Mehbooba Mufti) away from the chair.
“People in large numbers expressed confidence over the truthful politics of Apni Party who voted in large numbers in recently concluded 5th phase of Lok Sabha elections in north Kashmir,” he said.
Responding to a query, Bukhari said, “I pray that the banned Jamaat-e-Islami be allowed to spread teachings of Islam freely. I parry that JeI be allowed to spread Islam, open its schools, and their imprisoned members be released.”
Meanwhile, the Apni Party president visited the bereaved family of his party colleague and the party’s District President Baramulla Khurshid Ahmad Khan, who passed away on Monday evening at SKIMS Srinagar.
According to a press release issued here, during this condolence visit to the bereaved family in Baramulla, Altaf Bukhari was accompanied by several esteemed party leaders including General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, senior leader and former Mayor of Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu, Syed Mehmood Bukhari, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Sheikh Younis, Irfan Sultan Khan, Rafi ul Islam, and others.
The party leaders met the grieving family members of Khurshid Khan and extended their heartfelt condolence to them.
On this occasion, Bukhari said, “We are all bereaved by this tragedy and share the pain and sorrow of Khurshid Sahib’s family. In this hour of grief, the Apni Party stands in solidarity with the entire family, and we pray to the Almighty to give them enough strength to bear the pain of this irreparable loss. May Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace.”
