Kulgam, Dec 07: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo on Saturday thanked the public for giving her government a five-year mandate and assured that all promises made in the manifesto would be fulfilled within the term.
The minister made these remarks while addressing the media after a public gathering in Malwan village of Kulgam district on Saturday. She expressed gratitude to the voters and assured them that their issues would be addressed gradually over the coming years.
“I came here, met the people, and listened to their concerns. There are many problems, but they are not insurmountable. Inshallah, we have already made significant progress, and the people have trusted us for five years. Their remaining issues will be resolved step by step,” she said.
Responding to a question about unscheduled power cuts, Sakina urged the media to adopt a constructive approach when discussing government performance. “I appeal to my colleagues in the press to recognize the positive work being done for the people. Over the past ten years, during challenging times, you were unable to speak out. Now, when the government is working for the people and making their lives easier, small issues are being magnified. Please don’t do that. If the government is performing well, it deserves to be acknowledged positively.”
She further added that there is improvement in electricity supply, attributing the reduction in power cuts to efforts by the Chief Minister, who secured additional power from central sources. “There were significant problems with electricity earlier, but they have reduced considerably. This is because the CM went to Delhi and brought more electricity. The cuts we see today are far fewer than before,” she said.
Addressing employment issues, Sakina said that the government is committed to creating one lakh jobs. “We have already referred thousands of posts to the recruitment board. For instance, 300 doctors have been appointed through the recruitment board. These achievements need to be communicated to the public,” she said.
Sakina said “Our manifesto is not for two or three months. We urged people to give us a mandate, and we are thankful that they have. Over these five years, we will honour every commitment made in our manifesto.”
