Rajouri, Jan 20: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have taken swift action to address the mysterious deaths in Rajouri’s Badhal village, where 17 people have lost their lives so far.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kotranka ( Rajouri ) has issued an order to seal the Bawli Spring in the village, after water samples tested positive for pesticides and insecticides .

“Whereas the samples of water taken from the spring (Bawli) of village Badhal have been tested positive for some pesticides/ insecticides. The spring (Bawli) has blocked by PHE ( Jal Shakti) division Rajouri and sealed by the Magistrate concerned. There is an apprehension that the tribal population of the village may collect the flowing water of this spring steathly.” the order reads.

To prevent any further contamination, the authorities have directed the Tehsildar of Khawas to ensure that villagers do not use the water from the Bawli spring under any circumstances.
