Baramulla, Dec 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday booked the most wanted and notorious drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged him in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
A police officer said that the most wanted and notorious drug smuggler has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
He identified the drug smuggler as Safan Shafi Zargar son of Mohd Shafi Zargar, a resident of Tawheed Gunj Baramulla.
“The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu,” he said.
Police said that many cases are registered against the drug smuggler and he was involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth of Town Baramulla and other areas of the district.
“Despite his involvement in many FIR’s, he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth,” the police official said.
General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers.
