Baramulla, May 28: Police on Sunday arrested a wanted drug smuggler identified as Tawseef Nabi, also known as Tawseef Pujj, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla.
A police official said that the operation was carried out by the diligent efforts of the Baramulla Police, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Baramulla, along with the assistance of DySP Probation Naveed Shokat and SHO Police Station Baramulla.
“The arrest took place during a routine naka checking at Hospital Crossing Baramulla, where Tawseef Nabi was intercepted while attempting to flee from the spot upon noticing the presence of the police,” the police official added.
He said that however, the authorities tactfully apprehended him without any untoward incident.
Following a thorough personal search, law enforcement officials discovered approximately 15 grams of a brown sugar-like substance, suspected to be contraband, in Tawseef Nabi’s possession.
“The illicit substance was promptly seized, and Tawseef Nabi was taken into custody,” the police official said.
A case has been registered against Tawseef Nabi under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Baramulla Police Station, initiating further investigations into the matter.
