Srinagar, Oct 21: Condemning the terror attack in Gagangeer, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that despite repeated efforts by these elements over the years, the Govt had successfully thwarted their plans and would continue to do so to ensure that development remains uninterrupted.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura to meet the injured, Omar emphasized that the government would continue its efforts to ensure stability and development in the region.
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Gagangeer, which claimed multiple lives and left others injured. Speaking to reporters after visiting Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura to check on the injured, Omar emphasized that the government would continue its efforts to ensure stability and development in the region.
Expressing sorrow over the loss of lives, Omar said, “It is a pity that this attack took place in Gagangeer last night. Many precious lives were lost, and some people were injured. How can we justify the use of violence against innocent people?” He underscored that despite decades of violence, the situation in J&K had remained resilient, and peace would be pursued without interruption.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura to meet the injured, Omar said that it is a pity that this attack took place in Gagangeer last night. “Many precious lives were lost, and some people were injured. How can we justify the use of violence against innocent people?” he added.
Referring to recent infrastructure initiatives, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of maintaining security, especially for large-scale projects. “We have seen such attacks in Kashmir after many years, particularly on a major project. I have spoken to the Director General of Police to ensure that security is not taken lightly for these ventures,” he said.
Omar assured that ongoing development work in Jammu and Kashmir would not be derailed. “We will not allow the development to stop. The gaps in the security grid will be fixed, but the development will go on,” he declared. He reiterated that the government would remain focused on improving the lives of the people, driven by the hope expressed during recent elections.
During his visit to SKIMS, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was briefed by Director Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie and a team of senior doctors about the health condition of the injured and the treatment they are receiving. Omar personally interacted with each of the injured individuals, assuring them of full support from the government and expressing hope for their speedy recovery.
Addressing the motives behind such attacks, Omar said, “The reason behind this attack is to create instability and show that the situation in J&K is not stable. Vested interests have always tried to disrupt peace, but we have already defeated these elements, and we will continue to defeat them.” He reaffirmed that development and stability remain the administration’s priority, and no attempts to destabilize the region would be allowed to succeed.
Omar said that nothing had changed in Jammu and Kashmir despite witnessing violence for the last 35 years. “What we will get for J&K, we will get in a peaceful environment,” he said.
He also that the motive behind such attacks was to create instability in Jammu and Kashmir. “The reason behind this attack is that they want to show the situation in J&K is not stable.”
Referring to large-scale infrastructure projects, Omar said that security should be a top priority. “We have seen such attacks in Kashmir after many years, especially on a big project. I spoke to the DG this morning and advised him to ensure security for all major projects. He should not take it lightly,” he added.
Speaking on continuous efforts to tackle vested interests working against peace, Omar said that the vested interests have never want the situation to improve. “But we have already defeated these vested interests, and we will continue to defeat them,” he said.
Omar said that the development work in J&K would not be hindered. “We will not allow the development to stop. The gaps in the security grid will be fixed, but the development will go on,” he added.
Omar said that the government would keep its focus on improving the daily lives of the people. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir took part in the elections with the hope that their daily lives will improve. We will not back down from this mission,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, today visited Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, to inquire about the condition of civilians injured in the recent Gagangeer attack. During the visit, the Chief Minister was briefed by Director SKIMS, Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, along with a team of senior doctors, on the health status of the injured and the medical procedures being followed for their treatment.
