‘Viksit Bharat– Yuva Connect’ programme concludes at KU

Srinagar, Aug 09: To empower youth voices and engage them in nation-building, the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW), University of Kashmir (KU), under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, concluded its three-day programme on Viksit Bharat  ‘My Bharat- Yuva Connect’ today at the Main Campus.As per a statement issued here, Financial Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, UT of J&K, Shri Shantmanu (IAS), who was the chief guest at the valedictory function, highlighted the significance of Yuva Connect in promoting love for the nation and preparing the youth to contribute meaningfully towards making India a Viksit Bharat by 2047. “Youth are the driving force for a progressive India, and such platforms help channel their potential in constructive directions,” he said. Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, congratulated the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and urged them to remain proactive in addressing societal challenges.“Our youth must be prepared to lead with vision, compassion, and responsibility, as they are the architects of Viksit Bharat @2047,” she said. Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, highlighted the University’s continued focus on student engagement through diverse co-curricular initiatives.Dean DSW KU, Prof. Parvez Ahmed, provided an overview of the three-day programme, which featured a range of student-centric activities, including poster-making, painting competitions, speech contests and theatre performances. A pledge was also taken on the occasion, and a short film on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Yuva Connect was screened. The event also saw a skit on drug addiction performed by the University Drama Club, conveying strong messages about healthy lifestyle choices. The winners of the various competitions were also felicitated on the occasion. The event was attended by various administrative officers, faculty members scholars and students of the campus. The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Shahid Ali Khan, Cultural Officer DSW KU, who also coordinated the programme. A key highlight of the programme was the Mega Nasha Mukt Rally held on the second day, flagged off from Nishat by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan. The rally aimed to raise awareness about the need for a drug-free society and promote youth-led change. The rally saw the participation of university officers, faculty members, University students, and children from the Kashmir University Model School.
