Bandipora, June 27: With unabated construction of hotels going on in Gurez valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a concerning issue has arisen resulting in the compromise of sustainability.
Gurez valley, known for its pristine beauty and harmonious coexistence with nature, now faces a growing threat to its delicate ecosystem and the preservation of its cultural heritage.
As per the details available with Rising Kashmir, the uncontrolled expansion of hotels has triggered distress among locals, who have witnessed the gradual erosion of their natural resources and the disruption of the fragile balance that sustained their community for generations.
As the concrete structures continue to rise, voices of discontent and worry resonate throughout Gurez, echoing the urgent need to address the environmental consequences of this unregulated development.
Aijaz Ahmad, a local while sharing his fears, told Rising Kashmir that unchecked construction is depleting natural resources and damaging the delicate ecosystem of Gurez for which locals must act before it is too late.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Arshid Ahmad, a local social activist said that the Gurez valley is being consumed by rampant hotel construction and the insatiable appetite for development is destroying the very essence of Gurez.
“We must find a balance between development and environmental preservation. Our valley’s charm lies in its unspoiled beauty”, he added.
The ecosystem of gurez is under siege, another local Irshad Samoon said adding, ” unchecked hotel construction is encroaching upon natural resources, disrupting the delicate balance that sustains us.”
The unspoiled charm and intrinsic beauty of Gurez are now at stake, necessitating immediate action to restore the region’s sustainability and protect its invaluable natural wonders, Irshad said.
