The traffic including LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs shall be allowed from both sides on 270 Kilometre Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) on Monday.
“TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for road condition. Commuters are requested to check NH 44 status at J & K Traffic Police,” reads the traffic department advisory.
It further said that subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
The spokesman said that during the past 24 hours, there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad and between Marog, Kishtwari Pather and slippery conditions of road between Banihal and Levdora.
” Stranded vehicles (LMVs/HMVs) which were stuck in between Qazigund and Nashri Tunnel because of heavy snow fall and slippery road conditions were allowed towards their destination,” he said.
The Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road is still closed due to snow accumulation.
On Srinagar Leh Highway, after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies) only one way traffic for LMVs with Anti-skid chains from Srinagar towards Kargil shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. These vehicles shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1000 hrs. and 1500 hrs.
“No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road.
SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil shall plan their movement in such a manner so that civil traffic doesn’t get disturbed,” it said.
The Mughal road is still closed due to snow accumulation.
