Budgam, June 08: Police on Thursday said they arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in the Magam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
An official said that during the naka checking near Badran Bridge, a police team from the Police Station Magam intercepted two persons roaming in suspicious conditions.
“When the police party signalled them to stop, they tried to flee from the spot, but were apprehended tactfully,” he said, adding that during the search, 105 grams of Charas-like substance were recovered from their possession.
He identified the arrested drug peddlers as Fayaz Ahmad Wani, son of Ab Rehman Wani, a resident of Pinjoora Kunzer, and Sajad Ahmad Dar, son of Ab Aziz Dar, a resident of Gund Dalwash.
“A case FIR number 75/2023 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Magam and an investigation has been taken up,” the official said.
