American democracy has again proved that the people’s verdict is unpredictable and predictable both. Whether it is Indian elections or the US elections exit polls are losing the sheen as it once had. The reason being that what is being peddled in the public domain by social media managers and the handles may sound music to the ears of the supporters of a certain party or a candidate may eventually turn out to be a farce. It is clear now that people have understood globally the impracticality of the poll predictions. Both the Indian and the US elections have proved that voters vote in a different way and this cannot be gauged by the Artificial Intelligence (IA) and algorithms on social media. It questions the sampling techniques of the data gatherers who act as predators to influence the voter swing. Where the poll result professionals have failed, the voters have succeeded. They have succeeded as they have exhausted the poll forecasters of their arsenal of permutations and combinations. Now it is a foregone conclusion that the people don’t attach much credibility to the exit polls as it once had. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ campaign and contest has been quite an interesting one, where Democrats were cock sure of their advantage to sail through hoping to bank upon the issues like women rights and being the champions of liberalism. But these issues and many others have not been able to make an impact at the ground zero. It has been the other way round. Electorates have tested the Democrats and Republicans differently and have given their mandate with a caution and the previous record to overcome the economic crisis. Donald Trump has been able to strike a chord with the male voters and this has had an impact on the electoral fortunes of Kamala Harris who was banking on the women voters in terms of emerging women issues. Not only has Trump been able to bring the rural voters towards the endorsement of the Republican Manifesto. Americans have also analysed the issues that engulfed the US after the pandemic and had a tremendous impact on the economic well-being of the nation. Moreover, the Americans have not taken the jargon of Kamala Harris as impressive and have indeed accepted the sharp shooting of Trump to uphold America in terms of his America First policy. People want the distribution of resources for the Americans and it seems that here Trump has been successful. The crisis caused due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the turbulence in West Asia has too factored in these elections. These issues may not have been vivid in the articulations of the Presidential candidates but the voters are wise enough to give teeth to the new regime to deal with these grave situations. And the re-election of Trump is a testimony to that. It is clear that the Americans want the economy to thrive and protect the nation from the threats of terrorism that have already had an impact on its economic muscles by fighting the wars on the foreign soils to defend the national interest. When the news of Trump’s victory was in the public domain. It led to buoyancy and jubilation in the markets, making it clear that the new regime has been given a mandate to boost the economy. As Trump internalises the market dynamics. As far as India is concerned, Trump 2.0 means many things. One thing that goes against India is the exports have not been subjected to friendly handling by the previous Trump regime but that was not better even under Joe Biden. But other than this there has been convergence of Trump towards Indian policy premise as far as combating global terrorism is concerned and his friendliness towards India is concerned. The credit goes to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is one of the foremost friends of Donald Trump. Their dependence and trust in each other can be gauged from the chemistry they share. It cannot be forgotten that Modi-Trump du had taken India-US relations to a new level of excellence. Trump 2.0 is a timely mandate when his friend is already in the 3.0 mode in India. Two global leaders are again getting an opportunity to bring the two great democracies together for a peaceful and dynamic world order.
