Jammu, July 27: Amid fluctuating weather and challenging road conditions, the Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for July 28 urging commuters and transport operators to strictly adhere to guidelines in place for National Highway-44, Yatra routes, and other major roads across the Union Territory. The advisory highlights vehicle restrictions, cut-off timings, and movement plans linked to ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Budha Amarnath Yatra, and routine civilian traffic.As per the advisory, Jammu–Srinagar national highway–restrictions, traffic plan for July 28—passenger, private LMVs and SANJY convoy–subject to favourable weather and road conditions, passenger vehicles and SANJY convoys will be allowed from both sides — Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa. “Allowed on alternate days only, based on coordination between Traffic Control Units (TCU) Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban. HMVs from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar will be permitted only after road condition assessments, and not beyond 7:00 pm. Cut-off Timings for LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars)–from Nagrota (Jammu): 6:00 am to 12:00 noon,” the advisory said. “From Jakheni (Udhampur): 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, from Qazigund (towards Jammu): 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. Movement outside these timings will not be permitted under any circumstances,” the advisory said.It said that in view of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, the UT administration has taken special measures to ensure seamless movement of Yatra convoys and essential supplies. “A major shift has been implemented directing that tankers carrying fuel (Petrol, Diesel, LPG), empty LPG cylinder trucks, empty FCI trucks, and all empty vehicles (up to 10 tyres) returning to Jammu must use the Mughal Road instead of NH-44,” the advisory reads.As for Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra–Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244), subject to good weather and clearance from NHIDCL, LMVs and HPSVs (High-Powered Small Vehicles) will be allowed on NH-244 from Anantnag to Kishtwar and vice versa. “Vehicle movement schedule–from PP Parana to Anantnag: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. From PP Daksum to Kishtwar– 9:00 am to 3:00 pm,” the advisory said. For no HMV—apart from those categorized under HPSVs—will be permitted on this route as per orders from SDMs of Chhatroo and Kokernag dated May 16. “For SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)–regulated two-way traffic shall be allowed, weather and BRO clearance permitting–from Minamarg to Srinagar–LMVs followed by HMVs from 5:00 am to 10:00 am,” he said.From Sonamarg to Kargil: LMVs followed by HMVs from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. “No vehicle shall be allowed beyond the stipulated cut-off timings. Security Forces convoys must coordinate to ensure they do not disrupt ongoing Yatra movement,” the advisory said. The advisory said Mughal Road Movement Plan–subject to road clearance from GREF, LMVs and private vehicles will be permitted from both directions — Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa — via Poonch. “HMVs up to 10 tyres will be allowed to move only from Shopian towards Poonch between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm from Herpora (Shopian) and Behramgala (Baffliaz),” it said.
