Anantnag, Jan 24: A tourist died while four others were injured as a vehicle carrying them from Odisha met with an accident in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when a tourist tempo, bearing registration number HR55AM 5306 and carrying 15 tourists, overturned near the offbeat destination of Daksum in Kokernag, an official said.
The deceased tourist was identified as Durgais Naik (32), son of Guru Hari, a resident of Bhutrak, Odisha. The injured individuals include Vikram Kumar (29), son of Gautam Kumar Naik; Surjit Kumar (35), son of Narenjander Kumar, both residents of Odisha; and Basant Kumar (30), son of Ravender Kumar, also a resident of Odisha.
The Chief Medical Officer stated on the microblogging site X, confirming the road traffic accident at Daksum Kokernag involving tourists from Odisha.
He said one person died, and the four injured persons were immediately shifted to GMC Anantnag after stabilisation. The CMO said he is actively monitoring the situation on-site at PHC Larnoo.
