Qazigund, Feb 16: Three nomadic men have been missing from the Qazigund area, for the past three days, their families said on Sunday.
The nomadic families, currently residing in Chandan Pajan village, located about a kilometer from the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at Vessu, have been deeply worried since some of their members went missing.
According to family members, the missing individuals have been identified as Showkat Ahmad, Mohammad Riyaz, and Mukhtar Ahmad.
“They left here to attend a wedding in Ashmuji Bhan, Kulgam, on Friday evening, but they never reached their destination,” said Mohammad Lateef, a relative.
He said the trio boarded a vehicle from Damjan—a stop on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway—to Mirbazar. From there, they were reportedly walking to the wedding venue, but they never arrived and have been untraceable since.
“Two of them are married, while one is unmarried. Their phones have been switched off since Friday evening. We urge the authorities to trace them, as their families are anxiously waiting for their return,” he added.
Najma, the wife of Mohammad Riyaz, said she is in distress as her husband and the two others left to attend a wedding but never made it there. “They are labourers, and their disappearance is deeply concerning. We request the authorities to find them as soon as possible,” she said.
The nomadic families have been living at their current location for the past couple of years, primarily working as labourers. Meanwhile, relatives are actively searching for the missing men.
A missing persons report has been filed at Qazigund Police Station, and the families are seeking help to trace them.
