Srinagar, Jan 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested the accused involved in issuing threats and recovered threat posters from him in Palhalan area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police Spokesperson revealed that acting on the information provided through a reliable source, Police Post Palhallan swung into action and arrested a person involved in issuing threats to non locals besides condemning government’s decision of opening wine shop in Pahalgam.
According to police sources, the threats were issued by a terror group called Lone Wolf Warrior, at Tantraypora Palhallan, District Baramulla.
The Police party of PP Palhallan rushed towards the spot and found a poster pasted and some posters on the roadside.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Pattan and an investigation set in motion.
The police spokesman further stated that during the course of the investigation, several suspects were held.
“Investigating team led by SHO PS Pattan and DO Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan after hectic efforts zeroed on the suspect namely Altaf Ahmad Rather s/o Gh Mohd Rather r/o Tantraypora Palhallan and upon his questioning, he confessed and evidences so collected has confirmed his involvement in the commission of offences,” he said.
The spokesman further revealed that the accused was in touch with Pakistan-based terrorist handlers on social media and was working with them on their instructions to paste posters in order to create an atmosphere of fear among the public and hatred against India.
“On his disclosure, the raid was conducted at his house where posters and mobile phones were seized and the accused was taken into custody. Further investigation of the case is going on,” he said.
