Terrorist from Srinagar killed in Pulwama encounter: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that the terrorist killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama village has been identified as Srinagar resident.

A Police spokesperson said, “Acting on specific information regarding the presence of a terrorist in village Frassipora area of Pulwama, a joint cordon & search operation was launched by Police, Army (53RR) & CRPF (183Bn) in the said area.”

“During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, a terrorist was neutralised & his body retrieved from site of encounter.”, he said.

The spokesperson said that Terrorist was later identified as Danish Sheikh resident of Srinagar of proscribed terror outfit LeT/TRF. From the killed terrorist, arms, ammunition & incriminating materials was recovered.

“In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated. People are requested to cooperate with Police till the area at encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any”, he said.
