Jammu, Oct 23 :  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said the security situation in the Union Territory has improved significantly and terrorism is “taking its last breath” here.
“The security situation is better than it was in the past. With confidence, I can say that terrorism is taking its last breath,” Sinha said while addressing Kashmiri Pandits at Mata Bhadrakali shrine on the outskirts of Jammu city.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also presided over a sacred Puja at the under-construction temple of Goddess Bhaderkali, located at Devi Angan Thalwal, Jammu.
On this auspicious occasion, the Lt. Governor extended his warm Maha Navami greetings and pledged unwavering support from the Jammu and Kashmir Administration to the Mata Bhaderkali Asthapan Trust (MBAT) to ensure the swift completion of the ongoing temple construction. The temple is designed to be a faithful replica of the ancient temple in Handwara.
Lt. Governor Sinha commended the remarkable efforts of the Mata Bhaderkali Asthapan Trust in establishing essential facilities for pilgrims, including a socio-cultural center and a Shaheed Sthal to honour the martyrs of the Kashmiri Pandit Community, the Army, Police, and Central Armed Police Forces.
Reflecting on previous discussions with a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits, the Lt. Governor announced the government’s commitment to offering land at reduced rates to government employees in Srinagar, enabling them to construct their own homes.
Furthermore, a nodal officer has been appointed within the LG Secretariat to address all issues and concerns of the Kashmiri Pandit community. The Lt. Governor assured community members that they could also bring their concerns to the attention of the Divisional Commissioner, ADGP, IGP, and the relevant Deputy Commissioner, with a promise of expedited resolution.
“Accommodations for employees belonging to the Kashmiri Pandit community in Kashmir have been arranged, and allocation will be completed expeditiously,” he said.
The Lt. Governor also emphasised the cultural renaissance sweeping the nation under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as well as the concerted efforts to restore significant ancient and religious sites for the betterment of society.
Sinha directed KK Sidha, Commissioner of Relief and Rehabilitation, to facilitate the regular allocation of completed houses in the Kashmir Valley and submit a comprehensive report regarding infrastructure and facility requirements. He also underscored various initiatives taken by the administration to enhance the community’s welfare.
He also underlined the dedication of the Jammu and Kashmir Administration to create a conducive environment for the permanent resettlement of the Kashmiri Pandit community in the valley.
Sinha said that in the past, terrorists have targeted soft spots to instil fear within the community.
“The neighbouring country is deliberately attempting to keep the pot of terrorism boiling in J-K. We are making every effort to ensure the security of vulnerable groups, including Kashmiri Pandits and minorities. The police and security forces are working tirelessly towards this goal,” he said.
“We will ensure this arrangement is made promptly. My administration and office are open for the people of the community to address their genuine concerns,” he said.
“Enhanced security measures will be implemented at these accommodations across Kashmir. A proposal has been submitted to the Home Ministry and we expect a prompt response leading to its implementation,” he added.
Present in the event were Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Anand Jain, IGP Jammu; Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Ajay Bharti, former legislator; senior officials from the Civil and Police Administration; members of the Mata Bhaderkali Asthapan Trust; and prominent citizens.
