Anantnag, July 05: CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami has expressed deep concern over the recent incident in which three casual labourers attempted self-immolation at the Botanical Garden Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
In a tweet, Tarigami condemned the unfortunate event and called upon the authorities to address the grievances of these distressed workers.
“Very unfortunate that these casual labourers, who work tirelessly for meagre wages, had to resort to such extreme measures. The authorities must swiftly address their concerns and hold accountable those responsible for pushing them to such drastic steps,” Tarigami tweeted.
His tweet echoes the widespread sentiment that the plight of casual labourers who often face precarious working conditions and low wages, needs urgent attention. He urged the authorities to promptly investigate the matter and hold accountable those responsible for pushing these labourers to take such a drastic step.
“The distressing incident serves as a reminder that the well-being of workers must remain a top priority, with a focus on improving their working conditions and ensuring their grievances are heard and addressed promptly,” he said, adding that the authorities are urged to take prompt measures to resolve the transfer issue and address the concerns raised by the casual labourers.
“It is hoped that swift action will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure a safer and more secure environment for workers,” he said.
