Jammu, Dec 07: The BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina on Thursday said the Modi government’s decision to reserve seats for women and nominate women, Kashmiri displaced people and PoJK refugees in the J&K Assembly is historic and will ensure justice to all sections.
“Modi government has made it clear that PoJK is ours and as such 24 seats in the J&K Assembly have been reserved for that region,” Raina said while addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters here.
A Bhavan is also coming up in J&K UT for the people of PoJK as it is also a part of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
With this “historic” step taken by the Central government, women, Kashmiri displaced people and PoJK refugees would now be nominated as MLAs in the Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir, Raina said, adding, “The voice of several communities which faced injustice in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir for decades would now be heard in the J&K Assembly.”
The BJP government has empowered these communities as now the nominated MLAs would be able to raise their issues in the J&K Assembly, the BJP leader said.
“The Modi government has sincerely worked for these neglected communities, for which we thank PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Modi government believes in ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwaas’ and has worked for every section of the society and has done justice to them,” he said.
Raina further said that the women would feel more empowered with the 33 percent reservation in the J&K Assembly.
Surjit Singh Salathia, the J&K BJP Vice-President, Advocate Vibodh Gupta, General Secretary, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, former Deputy Mayor, JMC, Baldev Singh Billawaria and others were also present during the press conference.
