Sunita Williams has returned back from her space odyssey and it is a reason to celebrate for the entire progressive world. She was accompanied by Butch Wilmore, her fellow astronaut. These accomplished astronauts arrived in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at about 3:27 am IST when their spacecraft, SpaceX’s Dragon Freedom capsule, splashed down off the Florida coast near Tallahassee. They had to spend over nine months at the International Space Station(ISS) due to unexpected delays. It must be said that the entire world was concerned about their safety and there were many speculations regarding their welfare. Now it must be said that all is well that ends well. Ultimately the will and resolve to succeed has prevailed. This will surely break many myths about space travel and motivate more serious researchers to explore the possibility of life beyond our planet. Not only that. It will also enable new age research to unveil the hidden mysteries of nature that have a tremendous impact on all of us. We all have grown up with the stories and myths about the celestial beings that visit the earth and leave their imprints. And these beliefs are not confined to India but this belief system exists across cultures and nations. Sunita Williams has caught the imagination of the new age Indians. Especially the females who want to excel in the area of space research. Her leadership in the space explorations has led to out of box thinking. With the thrust of the Indian government to encourage women representation in the fields that were once considered taboo for the females will catalyse their empowerment. India has been working in a gradual manner right from the day it achieved independence to explore space. It goes to the credit of the ace space scientist Dr.Vikram Sarabhai who laid the foundation of the Indian space odyssey and the result is that the nation has been able to formulate and shape new frontiers of excellence. Space exploration has always fascinated humans in all cultures; stories and myths about the celestial beings have made people curious from times immemorial. India has a recorded history of astrological sciences. This area has been both sacred and curious. People in India plan their career and life based on astrology and it has been proved with scientific proof that astrology is a science that makes the humans internalise the impact of the celestial bodies. Moreover, the whole cosmos is an integral one. Imbalance in one part can have on other parts, altering the energy equations. In India there is a need to synergise space science with the Indian Knowledge System(IKS).So that astrology too is studies in a comprehensive manner and the wisdom and science of India seers is used to arrive at the reality of cosmos. After all what has been written in the Indian scriptures based on mathematical formulations has stood the test of the times. With the successful return of Sunita William and her equally competent crew the world will be wiser to decode the universe. Her inputs and experience will enable the humans to shape their vision with a new zeal.Space science has emerged as the new age area of study.Indian universities must design the courses that can introduce the students at the young age for space space science. So that they have enough time to sensitise themselves for this area.
