Srinagar, Jan 04: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Wednesday kick-started a five-day sensitisation programme for exploring startup opportunities in the Medicinal & Aromatic Plant Sector.
The online programme, ‘Converting ideas into Enlightening Agribusiness’ is organised by Regional cum Facilitation Centre NR-II, NMPB, Ministry of Ayush in collaboration with the Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research, Gujarat, with the objective to sensitise the young budding minds towards the startup opportunities in Medicinal & Aromatic Plant Sector and creation of a platform for strengthening value chain and value addition in Medicinal & Aromatic Plants.
Regional Director RCFC NR-II Prof Sheikh Bilal, in the inaugural session, briefed about the cultivation of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants and its potential areas for Startups and what SKUAST –Kashmir is doing to boost the morale of young budding entrepreneurs in the sector.
OSD to Vice Chancellor, Prof Azmat Alam Khan, stated the need for such programmes in the present era and the need to sensitise the young minds in the Medicinal Plant Sector to inculcate the culture of Medi-startups in J&K.
While praising SKUAST-K for its work in the startup arena, Prof Satyanshu Kumar, Director ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research, briefed the audience about the strengths & market for medi-startups in India and assured full collaboration with SKUAST-K for infusing startup culture in J&K.
The programme was attended by 55 student participants and various officers from SKUAST-K, RCFC NR-II Centre and ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research, Gujarat.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Naveed Hamid, BDA Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre SKUAST-K.
