SSP Shopian Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS chaired a crime and security review meeting at the Conference Hall, DPO Shopian. The meeting was attended by ASP Shopian, DySP Hqrs Shopian, SDPO Zainapora, SDPO Imamsahib, DySP DAR Shopian, Sr.PO DPO, and all SHOs/IC PPs of the district.
The meeting primarily focused on the implementation of newly introduced criminal laws, addressing challenges related to trial in absentia, organized crime, and reviewing the status of cases under the NDPS Act, UAPA, and POCSO in terms of pendency and disposal. A comprehensive assessment of the district’s security scenario was also conducted.
SSP Shopian emphasized the importance of efficient law enforcement, adherence to proper investigative procedures, and the timely disposal of cases in line with new legal provisions.
He instructed officers to adopt a proactive approach in tackling drug-related offenses under the NDPS Act and take strict action against individuals involved in unlawful activities under the UAPA.
SHOs and supervisory officers were further directed to enhance investigative techniques using modern methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Other key points of discussion included intelligence gathering, strengthening anti-drug operations, and improving inter-agency coordination to maintain a robust security framework.
Officers were directed to remain highly vigilant, especially in sensitive areas, to effectively counter any potential threats to peace and stability in the region.
