Ganderbal, Aug 17: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) took a step towards promoting community welfare through its Civic Action Programme by organizing a Veterinary Camp in the Manasbal area of Ganderbal. The event, held on Thursday, was part of SSB’s public outreach program aimed at fostering goodwill and providing essential services to local residents.
Led by Dr. Ghanshyam Patel, Deputy Commandant (Vety) of 5 Bn SSB, and Dr. Rayeez Ahmad, VAS from ICD Vet Hospital Batwina, the SSB’s veterinary team successfully examined and treated a total of 469 animals during the camp. The breakdown of treated animals included 136 Bovine, 121 Equine, 186 Sheep/Goat, and 26 Calves. Free medicines were distributed to ensure the animals’ well-being.
The event attracted a significant turnout from the Manasbal area, as residents seized the opportunity to avail of the veterinary services provided. Beyond the medical treatments, the locals were also educated about common diseases affecting various animals. The veterinary experts imparted guidelines to ensure the animals’ good health and offered valuable insights for their maintenance.
Dr. Firdosh Jamil, DC (MO), and Dr. Arun Choudahry, AC (MO), both from the 10 Bn SSB, used the platform to raise awareness about critical health concerns beyond animal welfare. They educated attendees about combatting HIV/AIDS, drug abuse (Nesha), and tuberculosis (TB) as part of the event’s broader agenda.
Commandant of the 10 Battalion SSB, Rohitashwa, expressed the force’s commitment to continuing such initiatives in the future. He emphasized that these programs not only project a positive image of the SSB but also foster a sense of security among the local populace. He reiterated the SSB’s dedication to the well-being of the community and the ongoing efforts to contribute to their welfare.
The SSB’s Veterinary Camp in the Manasbal area stands as a testament to the organization’s multifaceted approach, which encompasses not only security but also community engagement and public service.
